Byron and Beyond
It has been a busy year in this little town of Byron and here are a few projects that have been in the works.
First the Aila Blue look book for designer Mai Miyama. We shot on the beaches of Belongil with model Alyce Crawford. Take a look at more of Mai's beautiful silky ikat designs here.
Next up was a impromptu shoot with the gorgeous Indonesian model Fa Empel and Spell Designs featured here on The Ben Trovato Blog. Thank you for all the positive feedback! We have received so many emails on this one. I really enjoyed working with Fa, the Spell sisters and Johnny Abegg who made the short film, Freedom in Solitude.
NY cult magazine Lovecat Music Issue #4 with up and coming model Maddie Daisy Dixon as Anita Pallenberg (Rolling Stone muse and Keith Richard's wild woman partner). I was over the moon to be featured in the issue with the cover and several fashion spreads being shot by Ellen Von Unwerth (Guess ad's fame) as well as many other talented photographers. Special thanks to Ashlea Penfold who helped transform Maddie to her Anita character as well as the rest of the team that day!
In the works is the new Anna Beck Jewelry campaign in which we (Johnny Abegg and I) jetted off to Bali to shoot Indonesian model Salvita De Corte. We also were lucky enough to produced an Anna Beck sponsored film on the courageous and giving Robin Lim, 2011 CNN Hero. All coming soon.
Last but not least get ready for the music webisodes filmed at our summertime beach house project sponsored by Corona. A surf boho residence where some of Australia's best artists come to unwind, relax and record and we get to capture their creative process.
Busy busy beautiful Byron - I do love all the creative energy and people you hold in your heart!

In My Space - Shop Til You Drop
The sweet ladies of Shop til You Drop (Australia's answer to Lucky Magazine) were kind enough to feature our Byron Bay space in this year's March issue. It's funny to see your place through someone else's eyes but I am having a new appreciation for our abode. Shot by Kuni Takamani.
Some of my favorite things are my Anna Beck cuff and Fiel Sol Necklace, my lucite vintage bar, our original Todd Diciurcio "Conversations through the Frying Pan", Daeja Fallas Photo "Friendship, A rare Ramones photograph, Missoni Pillows, all things Asian inspired and the vintage crystal table lamp given to me by a special couple.

Anna Beck
Part of the holidays are over and if you are looking for some gift ideas, we are celebrating the launch of Anna Beck's new website and marketing campaign shot in Bali earlier this summer. Becky let my fellow collaborator Jen Brizendine and I into her factory where we got close to the seeds of her shiny handmade creations. We proceeded to shoot her new look book with Balinese American model Widika Sidmore. The next week we followed Becky around for a Day in the Life of this very balanced yet hardworking jewelry designer. My favorite thing about Becky- she goes with the flow and is very funny. She would never admit she's the ultimate mastermind behind some of the most sought out pieces in the US market...but she is. She keeps it fresh by constant travel to exotic places and is ever grateful for her beautiful life. No secret my favorite collection is the Java collection. Next up her guest stylist post with all her favorite things.

Bali Jewelry Designer, Becky Hosmer
Anna Beck Jewelry is designed, and handmade, in Bali by designer Becky Hosmer. Each piece is made with a different ancient Balinese technique that dates back hundreds of years.
I first found out about Anna Beck jewelry through my stylish and dear friend Tiana (guest blogger, October 15th) when I saw a beautiful statement ring she was wearing. A few months later I contacted the company to see if I could borrow some jewelry for a photo shoot I was working on. I was surprised, and then again not so surprised, to find out the designer was one of my neighbors in Canggu, Bali. It’s a small world after all! Since then, I have used Becky’s jewelry in numerous shoots. The richness of her jewelry and silver and gold tones always photograph beautifully and add that special touch and some bohemian bling to the overall styling. After every shoot, the models line up to ask me if they can order (or rather keep) pieces of hers we use.
Becky is a cool, laid back woman. She’s entrepreneurial and very spiritual. She’s a traveler at heart and always a pleasure to talk to. Her line is distributed worldwide, at both small boutiques and large retailers like Nordstroms.
Recently, I spotted and got to use her Java collection featured here. I fell in love instantly. Studded cuffs. Studded stud earrings. Studded rings. Amazing quality and craftsmanship.
Each of her lines is named after an island in Indonesia. Becky- hear our calling…we love your creations so keep them coming. After all, Indonesia is one of the largest archipelagos’ in the world so there is no shortage of names for your future designs!
