What an amazing wedding I attended on the North Shore of Oahu. Aloha spirit was in the air, I was reunited with two of my best girlfriends Laura and Nicci where good times as usual took instant precedent. I left the camera at home but hijacked Laura's iphone because the flower girls were so incredibly gorgeous and cute, I couldn't help taking photos. Oh and Laura was a picture of style perfection in her Lanvin heels, perfectly manicured coral nails and a one shoulder silk Elizabeth and James dress. Photos of the bride I did not get as such an amazing soul as herself is always bombarded with so much love, it's hard to navigate through the crowds!

Double Trouble
The Olsen twins may have lost the emerging talent (emerging?) award last night to Prabal Gurung at the CFDA awards but we are still going to snap up their Elizabeth and James line and look forward to their beautiful, classic, ladylike designs of The Row.

The New Essentials
January is my favorite month. Yes it's the dead of winter and the buzz of the holidays are long gone but this month signifies reinvention - the perfect moment in time to pack up the old and bring in the new. What's out? My collection of 4 inch stilettos, my jeggings/tee/military boot rut, my addiction to Starbucks double lattes and my penchant for anything fried. What's In? Clean eating, fun wardrobe additions and a year full of new adventures. Here's a short list of my essentials for 2011:
The Clean Program - I've heard nothing but amazing things about Dr. Junger's cleanse. If it's good enough for Gwyneth and Demi, it's good enough for me. I'm just hoping my less than stellar willpower will stand up to the 21 day challenge.

The Selby is In Your Place - A fresh take on my old standby, the Proust Questionnaire. I'm a big fan of Tod Selby's blog and this book is full of interesting people, places and things.

Stripes - I'm having a preppy moment and gravitating towards all things striped. Blazer by Elizabeth and James, pants by Missoni and skirt and jacket by Isabel Marant. All amazing.
Camel Nails and Apricot Lips - I think I overdid the smoky eye in 2010. Looking for a make-under and came upon the Dior Addict spring collection in the January issue of Elle - the perfect anecdote to my heavy handed ways.

Modern Jewelry - Loving the more minimalist jewelry for Spring. Less mixed media, more simple lines. Arm cuffs by Maison Martin Margiela. Necklace by Dannijo.

Navy Shoes - The new black? Not sure but I have these YSL's on pre-order and can't wait to break them in with my stripes. Really liking the lower heel + platform combo.

Summer Uniform
I'm in the midst of curating my little capsule wardrobe for Summer 2010 and thought I'd share a few of my current obsessions. The goal is to collect a handful of tried and true separates that can carry me effortlessly from beach day to date night. Less is more and fit & function are everything.
The Slouchy Trouser
I've worn these Current/Elliott 'Captain' pants nonstop since I picked them up this past weekend. Amidst the chaos of 'boyfriend' everything, these trousers reign supreme in terms of fit and versatility.

The Cutoff Short
I swore off shorts many years ago but I couldn't pass up JBrand's version of the denim cutoff. They are perfectly slouchy but not TOO short and work great with everything. Add a relaxed blazer, wedges and some jewelry to go from beach to happy hour.

The Artist Shirt in Chambray
Elizabeth and James delivers again. Throw this oversized, slightly sheer top over your bikini for a fresh/more edited take on the coverup. I also love this paired with a fitted Pleasure Doing Business mini, Wang's triangle jersey bra and wedges.

The Perfect White Tank
At $79, this silk-blend tank is an investment piece but remember less is more and I promise one or two of these will far outlast a million wife beaters (and they are far more chic I might add). The slightly oversized cut drapes in all the right places and can be dressed up or down. Indulge in at least one of these... you will not regret it!

The Jersey Triangle Bra
More of a layering necessity for your perfect tank. Alexander Wang's underpinning peeks out under sheer fabrics and is oh so comfortable.

The Date Dress
The Australian brand Camilla and Marc is a new discovery of mine and this dress is quickly proving to be one of my go-to picks for date nights. I've worn it with bare shoulders and sandals for a sunset dinner and a structured blazer and booties for a night out.

The Bikini
The floral print and feminine details on this Zimmerman suit are a refreshing departure from my black bikini rut. So cute under the E&J artist shirt no?

The Wedge
I have a love affair with the wedge and Jeffery Campbell's version for summer is right on trend with it's clog-inspired detailing. The price is right and the neutral color goes with everything.

A Little Flair
Here at TSC we heart Dannijo and I am seriously coveting their new collection of tribal-inspired jewelry. In the spirit of full disclosure, I haven't actually pulled the trigger on these pieces but I am so coveting them as the perfect finishing touch to the neutral wardrobe staples I inevitably rely on.

Happy back-to-summer shopping! XX
