Fantasy Wishes

My husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I honestly said, "nothing honey, I don't need anything". But if you wanted to send any of these my way, they certainly won't disappoint.

A year supply of Karl designed Coca Cola... available at Colette. Fly to Paris to pick some up?

Izzy Blow - Muse to many, mentor to greats such as Alexander McQueen... I hope I find this in my stocking.

Speaking of Alexander, how fun are these... net-a-porter.com

I'm a sucker for a statement cuff and this one by Isabel Marant is perfection.

Is this asking too much? A little loft in Brooklyn? I did say fantasy wishes didn't I?

Fashionable Films

A list of must see, fashion-filled films...

Lagerfeld Confidential

“Fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair.” – Karl Lagerfeld

One of my favorite films and a must-see for anyone who is a fan of the House of Chanel. Notoriously private, this documentary offers a rare glimpse into the surreal and absolutely fabulous life of the designer who resurrected Chanel from obscurity in the 1980s. The director, Rudolphe Marconi, followed Lagerfeld for two years and as a result the film is teeming with eye candy – fashion shows, photography, art, theater and design. The best part though is getting to see the inner workings of KL’s creative process and what drives the man behind the iconic image. LOVE.

Valentino, The Last Emperor

“I know what women want. They want to be beautiful.” - Valentino

A beautiful tribute to the designer who reigned over haute couture up to his last show in 2007. The documentary is really a love story – one that tells of the forty-five year relationship between Valentino and his business partner Giancarlo Giammetti. Though we don’t get to see much of Valentino’s lavish lifestyle the film does go behind the scenes of one of Valentino’s final couture shows as well as the three-day celebration in Rome commemorating his 45th anniversary. Gorgeous styling, beautiful people, and amazing, amazing dress after dress make this a must add to your Netflix queue.

Yves St. Laurent: His Life and Times and 5, Avenue Marceau

“Fashions fade, style is eternal.” – Yves St. Laurent

These two feature-length documentaries, directed by David Teboul, offer unprecedented insight into the history of one of the most revered designers of the twentieth century. Life and Times takes us on a walk down memory lane in an attempt to illuminate Saint Laurent’s path to greatness. 5, Avenue Marceau is an intimate look into the inner workings of Saint Laurent’s atelier as he prepares for a couture show.

Coco Cocoon

Chanel has just given us one more excuse to book a fabulous weekend getaway this fall. Behold the Coco Cocoon collection of sleek travel bags, totes, and small accessory pieces. Aptly named, these bags are the perfect intersection of cozy puffer jacket and classic Chanel quilting and detailing. Trust me – if I could wrap myself up in Chanel handbags I would and clearly the creative team at Chanel is playing right into my obsession. The collection is available in washed lambskin (pricey) and lightweight nylon (attainable) and comes in a muted palette of grey, dark brown, taupe, navy, and black. As an added bonus each piece is reversible to the shade of quilted garnet from the original 2.55 bag. That’s right… two gorgeous Chanel bags for the price of one. Amen.

Available at Chanel stores this month.

The Cocoon online ad campaign has these great videos showing the versatility of the bags, like we really needed one more reason to love Chanel - now it's practical too!

Check out images from the new ad campaign (shot by the master himself Karl Lagerfeld) featuring Lily Allen channeling a very au courant Holly Golightly.

Thank you Chanel!
