The Birthday List

I turn 25 this month…umm I mean 35 (OMG!) and it is time to put together my birthday wish list. Similar to a letter to Santa, my birthday lists are long, well thought out and pretty much infamous in my family. It’s a tradition started years ago when a perm, subscription to Teen magazine and Guess ankle zipper jeans topped the list of must-haves. The ‘wish’ part has definitely evolved (as has my taste thankfully…you should see me with a perm), but the fun I get out of curating my list of current obsessions never gets old.

The List – 35

Tom Ford Silvano Aviators – I’ve been coveting these babies for awhile. I love the ivory and brown combo for spring/summer.

Apple iPad – The techie in me wants this SO badly. For what I’m not sure but it looks cool. I clearly am totally drunk on the Apple koolaid.

Luli Fama Merenguito Bikini – I’m in love with these suits. The fit is amazing and since mine from last season are black I thought it would be fun to get this one in magenta.

Lipstick in 'Super' from Chanel's 2010 Summer Collection - This is the perfect shade to complement neutral dresses. The matching nail polish would be fun too!

Isabel Marant Mini Dress – I dream of this for summer date nights paired with flat sandals and some amazing jewelry. Yum.

Daisy Knights Feather Necklace – Hoping to wear this with a drapey white Kain tee and my JBrand skinnies. Perfect addition to the weekend uniform.

Chloe Wedges – LOVE…the color/the style/the detailing. The wedge is about the only kind of heel I can pull off when trekking around town with my 21 month old in tow.

Subscription to Vanity Fair Magazine – I run out to the newsstand every month to buy this magazine and spend hours poring over every page. The articles are some of the best edited I’ve seen and I love the Proust Questionnaire at the end (keep an eye out for TSC’s version debuting soon!)

Our final installment of our "12 Days of Christmas" brings you gifts that are large and small, free and budget blowing. Regardless of what we find under the tree this year we are all getting exactly what we want... time with the ones we love the most. Merry Christmas to all!!

Note: The staff actually does wade into the ocean to hand deliver champagne while you are snorkeling off private islands. Heaven!

A Private Tour of Cy Twombly’s Studio I’m such a fan of Twombly’s work so to get a peek into his creative environment would be quite an honor.

Friday Favorites - Books

Thank goodness it's Friday, and hopefully a slow day at the office, because you are going to want to spend some time with this one. Today we bring you pages from our favorite books. This is serious dessert for the eyes so settle in and enjoy every bite.


Sybil's Favorite...

Gypset Style, by Julia Chaplin, Published 2009

I love this new book Gypset Style by Julia Chaplin. It’s full of stories and beautiful pictures of gypsy jetsetters who live an unconventional life around the world, past and present. The images of Talitha Getty might actually get me in a caftan. And if I could just get an invitation to Alice Tempereley’s annual summer costume party in England. Most of all it embodies the spirit of those full of wanderlust…something I embrace 100%.

Glamour: Making it Modern, by Michael Lassell and editors of Metropolitan Home, Published 2009

If I could line my walls with pages from Metropolitan Home magazine I would so this book will soon be taking its rightful place on my coffee table. The concept of making interior glamour modern and livable is exactly how I like to approach design. All of these rooms are killer gorgeous but I could envision real people living there... with real dogs and real kids... and real messes. Bringing glamour and style to real life, isn't that what it's all about?

When I need a little escape, I love nothing more than to curl up in my bedroom with a great glass of red, a big soft blanket, and a beautiful book to page through. 

You know I love all things Tom and this book is the ultimate tribute to my favorite designer. It features hundreds of gorgeous photographs of TF’s prolific vision from the likes of Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, and, Herb Ritts.
