Friday Favorites - Web Tools

It seems that we all spend a good bulk of the day on our computers and it's due in part to tools like these. Today we are sharing our favorite web tools that make our lives a little cooler, and yes a little more stylish...

Sybil's Pick

Dripbook

A great site for creative professionals, it allows my partner and I to upload photos from our shoots and create great online portfolios that we can easily share with potential clients (click on the image below to see ours). The best part, using this tool takes zero technical knowledge, easy!!

Pandora
Your favorite music for free, sign me up! Pandora is a music sharing site with brains. I simply enter my favorite band of the moment (Loving Editors) and Pandora creates a custom radio station for me that streams similar music. And you read it right, it's free. What's not to love?

Blurb
The English major in me (well, one semester and then I changed my mind) has always secretly fantasized about one day seeing my words published. Having my own book sitting on the coffee table would be pretty snazzy. Publishers can be pretty picky so I am not holding out hope but now I don't have to. Blurb is a site that helps you create your own book (for free) - and it actually looks and feels legit! I recently used it to create my wedding album (click on the widget's arrows below to preview) which saved me tons of moola. The coolest part is that your book is available for purchase online so you can send the parentals, and anyone else who might actually plunk down money for your creation, to the site so they can buy a copy themselves.

Friday Favorites - Websites For Inspiration

Although we love picking up a glossy magazine sometimes we need more instant gratification so we check out our favorite go-to websites, blogs and online stores. Here's our list of favs.

It's amazing how hard it is to get a hold of a certain magazine when you want it... especially indie magazine Lula. Because I can't always find it, I settle for their online version. The photos on the blog are nostalgic, ethereal, and fun.

The fashion editorials are dreamy and gorgeous but with photographers like Ellen Von Unwerth shooting and some of the best in stylists and art directors in the world, of course it's a coveted fashion bible.

I am still trying to track down all 10 issues of Lula but for now I'll get my fix online.

Another favorite also falls along the same lines of the Lula aesthetic. Minimal and fashionable.
Kat's Blog - Follow her for inspiring interior photos such as these...

Or her illustration and photography site, where you'll be inspired by great images like these...

SeaOfShoes.com - One girl's online love affair with shoes. How can you not love this site?

Style.com - My go to source to stay connected to designer collections, trends, runway shows, editors picks, styling tips, and more. I spent an hour drooling over the Chanel Fall 2010 RTW last night.

Brown - part online store, part idea source, Brown not only boasts a very cool site design it also offers some great one-of-a-kind treasures to make your home feel as unique as you are.

Styleite is a brand new online only fashion site that has a slight gossip-rag feel but always keeps me updated on the latest fashion news. A true guilty pleasure.

Happy surfing!

Friday Favorites - Websites

Since we all seem to spend so much time on the web these days we thought you might like to hear about the sites we frequent for inspiration and shopping. We'd love to hear your favorite bookmarked sites so post comments below and let us know!

Sybils' favorites...

www.artandcommerce.com
My all time favorite website is not a place where you can shop (surprise!) but hosts photographers portfolios. This is my go to source for styling and photography inspiration. If you have an appreciation for photography, this agency represents the best of the best and you will find no end to stunning images that leave you wanting more.

These are just a few of photographers on their roster but some of my favorites:

Patrick DeMarchelier

Solve Sundsbo

Ellen Von Unwerth

www.moderndose.com
When it comes to shopping, I have a long list of go-to-sites but for interiors I am really liking Modern Dose for their eclectic selection of home goods. The lighting section is particularly fun.

www.whowhatwear.com
Interested in who makes the amazing handbag Alexa Chung was seen carrying last weekend? Wondering where Kate Moss procured that perfect black blazer? Then Who What Wear needs to be added to your bookmarks ASAP. Created by two stylists, this website is the ultimate online resource for the ‘who’ and the ‘what’ behind runway trends and celebrity style.

My favorite feature is called ‘What Was She Wearing’. It gives a detailed rundown of where Model X bought her boots, or where Celebrity Y found that perfectly worn in leather jacket. Plus they research alternatives for those pieces that are either sold out, no longer in stores (past seasons), or one of a kind vintage. You can even send them queries about a specific look you’ve seen in a magazine or online and they will track down the details for you. Making fashion that much more attainable. Brilliant!

www.net-a-porter.com
Once you've solved the mystery of the origin of Kate's blazer, you can log on to net-a-porter to purchase from the web's best curated collection of clothing, lingerie, bags, shoes and accessories from established and up and coming designers alike. I promise you will not leave this site without filling your virtual shopping bag!

www.bluehillfarm.com
As a graphic designer I love this site because I think it's really beautiful and smart. I love how the design aesthetic sets the tone immediately and you know you're entering a place that is thoughtful, just like the dining experience at the Blue Hill restaurants. As a foodie I love the site because it inspires me to go to my local farmer's market, take time preparing a meal, and really savor the experience of food. Put down the take out menu and get motivated to cook something!

www.kellywearstler.com
I am not sure if there is a Kelly Wearstler fan club but if there is I may consider joining. I think her interior design is genius. She has inspired trends that we'll be emulating for many years to come and when I am feeling low on my creative mojo I spend a few moments on this site. I've seen these photos so many times, but I always find something new that gets me inspired and ready to design. Go get your dose of Wearstler.
